Several speculations have been coming up concerning the shooting incident of Gen Katumba Wamala that left him injured with bullet wounds and claiming the lives of his daughter Brenda Nantongo Wamala and driver Haruna Kayondo.

While briefing the press about the security situation in the country, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga disclosed that no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting of Gen Katumba.

“We simply identified a few persons of interest-based on the information that they could have had knowledge about this incident and recorded their statements, although we are not considering them as suspects yet,” said Enanga.

Enanga said that their investigation team have made proper analysis of the crime scene and investigations are still on going.

“We managed to draw our best teams and directed sufficient resources towards this particular investigation. The teams have re-documented the scene; they have recovered Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage before and after the incident for further analysis and identification of the assailants,” he said.

He added, “So, much as we have several potential leads, we are still working towards the best lead that can help us in this very investigation. So we don’t want to come up with a lot of information that is subjective. We want to be very objective.”

He urged the public to remain calm and leave the security forces to do their work.
