Mathias Mpuuga named Leader of Opposition in the 11th Parliament

With National Unity platform as the leading opposition in Parliament, the party has today designated roles to its members of Parliament. NUP was tasked to appoint 10 members in different positions and these include; Leader of Opposition, Opposition Chief Whip, and leadership of the four accountability committees; the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Committee on Commissions Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE), Local Government Accounts Committee (LGAC), and Committee on Government Assurances.

Hon.Mpuuga Mathias Nsamba has been selected to be the Leader of Opposition in the 11th Parliament.

John Baptist Nambeshe will be Opposition chief Whip,

Joel Ssenyonyi is chairman COSASE,

Medard Lubega Ssegona is chairman Public Accounts committee. He will be deputized by Asuman Basalirwa.

Zaake Francis is Parliamentary commissioner

NUP emerged the most dominant opposition party in the 2021 general elections after winning 61 parliamentary seats against Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) 36 seats.
