Don’t antagonise the party –Lumumba tells Kadaga

National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretary General, Kasule Lumumba has reacted to Rebecca Kadaga’s decision to stand as an independent in the speakership race. The NRM top organ of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) yesterday dropped Kadaga in favor of her deputy Jacob Oulanyah.

According to Lumumba, Kadaga is not showing the NRM spirit yet the elections that led to her dumping were free and fair.

“In all fairness, please don’t antagonise the party,” Lumumba said.

She urged Kadaga to reach out to the NRM party leadership, President Yoweri Museveni in specific and request for a new role in government.

While announcing her candidature as an independent, Kadaga revealed that there have been many attempts to eject her from the NRM party leadership.

“During the CEC elections last year there was tremendous State interference and intimidation but I won the contest of CEC National Vice Chair,” she said.

Today at 10am, the first sitting of the first meeting of the first session of the 11th Parliament will be held at Kololo Independence grounds, with Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo presiding.

After the election of the Speaker, President Yoweri Museveni will administer the oath of Speaker, pursuant to the second schedule of the Oath Act.

The Speaker will then preside at the election of Deputy Speaker, and the President will administer the oath of Deputy Speaker to the Deputy Speaker-elect.
