SONG REVIEW: Bobi Wine tells his supporters not to be afraid in new song ‘Katengo’

Following the swearing in of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni that occurred last week Thursday May 12, the hope of the ‘new Uganda’ a phrase that was popularly used by the National Unity Platform party as its tagline for the presidential campaigns was squashed.

Known for using music to reach out to the masses, former Presidential candidate Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has today released a song dubbed Katengo aiming at instilling hope in his supporters who are eagerly awaiting the new Uganda.

Katengo is a luganda slung that means fear. In the song, Bobi Wine cautions his supporters not to be afraid.

“Don’t be afraid. The only thing preventing us from attaining the change we desire is fear,” states Bobi.

The lyrical rich song was produced by one of the political prisoners Sir Dan Magic

“This song was produced by Dan Magic. It was 60% finished when he was taken to jail as a political prisoner. Today I will release this song in honor of him and all the fearless young men and women who continue to languish in prison for no reason,” posted Bobi wine.

In the song Bobi Wine highlights the problems affecting the common man

“Our nation is being mortgaged, we are the collateral. “They found us enjoying our Uganda. They came with their shoes and torn shirts. They lied to our elders, we trusted them, hid them, they ate our sweet potatoes. We were rich but they finished our cows.  They have stolen our land now they capture our kids,” states Bobi.

Bobi Wine also states that the   only thing preventing the people from attaining the change they desire is fear. He assures them that if they shake off fear, they can easily over power the people in power.
