Francis Babu claims it’s a crime to push old people out of government

Senior member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has accused the current breed of opposition, National Unity Platform (NUP) party of basing their struggle of change in government on a narrative that all old people are bad.

“That is totally unfortunate,” says Babu as he explains that there are some old people that can ably complement their struggle for change.

“I would like to see people who oppose gov’t oppose it. I also would like the people in gov’t to listen to what some people are accusing them of doing,” he says.

Babu claims that forcing old people out of government is criminal.

“Every time you push the old people out, you are violating their human rights,” says Babu.

He further explains that the more young people want to change the government by force, it will fight back.

David Lewis Rubongoya, the NUP Secretary General says that their party believes that everyone is important in the struggle whether old or young.

“We believe that old people can guide us and they also have a role to play in shaping the destiny of this country,” says Rubongoya.

However, he blames Museveni and his bush war generals for the mess as he accuses them of only being interested in staying in power at any cost.
