Yesterday Denis Onyango called time on his Uganda Cranes playing career and set to concentrate only at South African based club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Onyango made his Cranes senior debut on June 18 2005 in a World Cup qualifying match against Cape Verde. From then Onyango became a regular for the Cranes. He helped the Cranes qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations by conceding only two goals in six matches in their qualifying group. He captained the team at the first AFCON finals after 39 years and also led the team to the 2019 AFCON finals.

It’s a sad day for football fans, players and coaches who witnessed his memorable 16-year career. Some of his former teammates have taken to social media to pay tribute to the legendary goalkeeper.
