EC boss Byabakama: Kyagulanyi should stop deceiving Ugandans that he won the presidential elections

On several occasions the National Unity Platform (NUP) former presidential candidate Bobi Wine real name Robert Kyagulanyi has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of rigging the 2021 presidential elections in favour of incumbent President Yoweri Museveni.

A week ago Kyagulanyi paraded about 2000 DR forms and declared himself winner of the elections with 54.19% of the total votes.

While meeting with the leaders of political parties under their umbrella organisation the National Consultative forum for political parties and Organisations, the EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama responded to Kyagulanyi saying he should stop hoodwinking Ugandans that he won the presidential elections.

Byabakama said the presidential hopeful had opportunity to address his grievances in the Supreme Court but instead decided to withdrawal the case and so he should respect what was declared.

Kyagulanyi withdrew the election petition sighting bias of some of the judges on Supreme Court panel that were in charge of hearing his case.

He announced how he had tabled his ‘overwhelming’ evidence before the “public court” who he called upon to participate in peaceful demonstrations in demand for his win.

Byabakama declared Museveni winner of the elections with 6,042898 votes representing 58.38% of the vote, while his closest challenger Kyagulanyi garnered 3,631,437 votes representing 35.08%.
