Despite the fact that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Aggrey Kibenge directing the Equal Opportunities Commission chairperson Sylvia Muwebwa Nabatanzi to handover office on February 5, 2021, days after her contract had expired, she is still holding onto the office.

More than a month later, she is yet to hand over office and the official government vehicle of number plate UG 0931T to the commission.

Nabatanzi’s contract expired on January 19, 2021 and it was not renewed by by appointing authority, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Even though she was eligible for another five year term, it was a hard call for the President to renew her contract as she has been grappling with charges of corruption and abuse of office.

In a move construed as trying to “clean up” her name and image, Nabatanzi changed her name from Sylvia Ntambi Muwebwa to Sylvia Nabatanzi Muwebwa by a deed poll earlier this year.
