Finance Minister Matia Kasaija is hunting for Shs165 billion for Members of Parliament’s motor vehicle allowance in the newly elected 11th parliament.

Each Member of Parliament will bag Shs321 million since there are no implementation costs for the programme. The 11th parliament will have over 500 MPs surpassing 427 MPs that are in the 10th parliament.

After the 2016 general elections, MPs bagged Shs200 million after President Yoweri Museveni approved an increase of Shs50 million for each legislator to buy new cars as had been budgeted by the Parliamentary Commission.
