No major incident as Uganda goes to polls for Division Mayors, Councillors

Uganda has today gone to another set of polls for Chairpersons, Directly Elected Councillors and Women Councillors for Municipality and City Division.

By press time, the voters were slowly accessing the various polling stations across the country to cast votes for their respective candidates. There is calmness at most of the polling stations as no major violent or electoral process irregularity has been reported.

In a press statement released by the Electoral Commission yesterday, the independent body reminded political parties, candidates, voters and the general public to turn up in big numbers and participate in the election.

Voting has been by universal adult suffrage and began at 7:00am and will end at 4:00pm where the counting of votes and declaration of results shall take place.
