Minister Kyambadde on why she lost Mawokota North Seat: People are tired of NRM and see NUP as their only ‘HOPE’

Trade Minister Amelia Kyambadde has publically conceded defeat in the Mawokota North Member of Parliament Seat race that was won by singer Hillary Kiyaga, aka Dr Hilderman of National Unity Platform party (NUP).

Kyambadde who finished third in the recently concluded elections had won two terms comfortably that is in 2011 and 2016. On seeking her third term, Hilderman shockingly overturned the tables and oust her.

Kyambadde attributes her loss to the fact that the electorate is fade up of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s over stay in power hence see NUP/ People Power as their only hope.

“People are tired of NRM’s long stay in power because they think we have not done enough to address their issues,” said Kyambadde.

She added, “Many people like me as a person but hate my party (NRM).”

The minister admitted that people are no longer excited about her presence at events as they used to.

“I force people to clap when I arrive at events,” she said.

In 2016, Hilderman was among Kyambadde’s campaigners as he even composed a political song titled ‘Amelia’ in praise of her as a blessing to the constituency.
