The Vice President of Uganda’s oldest Political organization Democratic Party (DP) Fred Mukasa Mbidde has claimed that he’s no longer looking for his votes but rather concentrating on promoting National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Kyagulanyi Robert Sentamu’s presidential candidature with less than a month left to polling day which is on January 14 2021.
A month ago, Mbidde publically revealed that he will be supporting Kyagulanyi for President even though his DP has a candidate in Norbert Mao. He said members of DP have a right to support anybody they choose to.
Nevertheless he has said that DP is more popular in Masaka than NUP hence abandoning his campaigns to gather votes for his presidential candidate Kyagulanyi.
“NUP is not known in Masaka, the only person they will vote for is Kyagulanyi. The only party known in Masaka is DP, NRM has no chance,” Mbidde said.
The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) legislator is currently vying to represent people of the newly created Nyendo-Mukungwe constituency that was cutoff Masaka when it was elevated to a City status.
The Seat has several area heavy weights that are contesting and these include; National Unity Platform’s Mathias Mpuuga, who is the incumbent Masaka Municipality MP, independents Peter Sempa and Michael Ssekabira and NRM’S Ms Sarah Kiyimba.
