The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate President Yoweri Museveni has said that though he’s seeking for a sixth term to continue being at the helm of the country’s top office, he’s not hungry for power as many of his opponents are trying to claim.
Speaking at Kamuli Youth centre grounds in Kamuli Municipality where he addressed NRM leaders and flag bearers from the districts of Kamuli and Buyende, Museveni said if his mission was to be in power, he wouldn’t have gone to the bush as he was already in government.
“I am not interested in power. We were in power; we resigned and went to fight. How can you think that I want power?” Museveni said.
Museveni said that his desire to retain office is to continue pushing for the core principles of NRM that include; Democracy, Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, and Socioeconomic transformation.
Earlier today before heading to Kamuli, Museveni commissioned Lugazi central market in Lugazi Municipality.
“These developments are a result of deliberate policies of the NRM meant to help the people, develop, and improve on their household incomes.
This market comes with clean and hygienic working space, storage facilities and safe work environment. I urge farmers, vendors and business people operating here to maintain this environment,” he said.
