The Vice President of Uganda’s oldest Political organization Democratic Party (DP) Fred Mukasa Mbidde has publically revealed his choice for President ahead of the 2021 polls.
While addressing a campaign rally in Nyendo-Mukungwe constituency, Mbidde said despite DP having a presidential candidate in the 2021 presidential elections, he will vote for the National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine as he has an upper hand compared to all other candidates to defeat incumbent President Yoweri Museveni.
Mbidde explained that the DP president who is also their presidential candidate Norbert Mao is aware of his choice since he first had to seek approval from him.
Mbidde and Mao have been close associates even when DP split into two sections. It should also be recalled that Mbidde also caused controversy when he supported Mao a non Muganda for the DP presidency for a political party that was founded on Buganda and Roman Catholic roots.
The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) legislator is currently vying to represent people of the newly created Nyendo-Mukungwe constituency that was cutoff Masaka when it was elevated to a City status.
The Seat has several area heavy weights that are contesting and these include; National Unity Platform’s Mathias Mpuuga, who is the incumbent Masaka Municipality MP, independents Peter Sempa and Michael Ssekabira and NRM’S Ms Sarah Kiyimba.
