Yesterday a video surfaced on social media showing a Field Force Unit (FFU) officer beating an elderly woman during an operation. The video received massive criticism with many demanding police to come out and indentify the officer before punishing him.
‘Tweeting Cop’ the Chief Political Commissar of Police, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) responded to the public uproar assuring that the police disciplinary courts of law were going to handle the matter.
Today morning, Afande Kasingye disclosed the identity of the officer as the OC FFU Mbale Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) Sam Okiror. He however revealed that he died three weeks ago.
“I have reliably been informed that this officer, AIP Okiror, the OC FFU Mbale died three weeks ago and was buried in Bukedea. This matter can be put to rest though it should remain a lesson to all of us in the police,” said Kasingye in a tweet.
Last month on Monday, September 21, Daily Monitor ran a story reporting the death of Mbale FFU OC Okiror. Okiror is said to have succumbed to high blood pressure at Embago clinic where he had been admitted.
