Uganda is in the critical stage in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus as infections are on a rapid trajectory. As of yesterday, Uganda’s total cumulative confirmed cases of COVID-19 stand at 9,082 as 117 new cases were reported by the ministry of health. The total recoveries stand at 5,457 while total deaths are now 84.
The COVID-19 response has received a boost as South Korean government has pledged to financially support the fight. The South Korea’s Ambassador to Uganda H.E Ha Byung-Kyoo on a courtesy visit to Speaker Rebecca Kadaga earlier today, promised to offer at total of $4million (about Shs14 billion) in the fight against COVID-19 and to support six Vocational institutions.
Similarly a team of biomedical engineers from Kyambogo University have locally made face shields to protect health workers from COVID-19. The team through Silver Bolt donated the face shields to Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary to the Health Ministry this afternoon to support the COVID-19 response.
