Makindye East Independent MP aspirant, Michael Mabikke has revealed that from the start cautioned the idea of the National Unity Platform (NUP) selecting its flag bearers through a vetting process.
Mabikke says he raised his concerns to the NUP executive committee but they were not looked into hence he decided to participate in the vetting process to expose them.
“I am connected, I got the original results and that’s how I know that my results were tampered with,” says Mabikke.
He claims that there some elements inside NUP that he thinks came from NRM and are working hard to drive out people like him who came from the DP bloc.
Yesterday the National Unity Platform (NUP) refuted Mabikke’s allegations of being cheated in the vetting process. The party asked him to stop misinforming the public.
“Ordinarily we don’t release candidate’s scores to the public however given the continuous misleading statements intended to discredit our vetting process,we hereby clarify that Hon Mabikke scored 22 points out of 50 before the vetting committee and 37 out of 50 from the ground study, giving him a total of 59%,” said the NUP electoral committee chairperson, Mercy Walukamba in a statement as she added that Mabikke’s competitor scored 78 per cent.
