Former DP Bloc member currently subscribing to the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, Micheal Mabikke has disclosed that there are some members in NUP working for the ruling NRM party.
Mabikke says that there are people in NUP who wear red during the day and go for NRM meetings at night. Though the party is yet to officially announce who will carry their flag in Makindye East constituency, Mabikke claims his opponent who NUP is planning to hand flag is NRM.
“There is infiltration by the NRM in NUP especially in the vetting committee,” Mabikke says as he reveals that the NUP vetting process is flawed and that the process has let Bobi Wine and the people who have been in the struggle down.
“We are operating under very hard circumstances, but let us not use that as an excuse to commit mistakes. The process of vetting should be open. The process is shabby with tribalism and cliques,” he says.
Mabikke, Lubega Mukkaku, Allan Ssewanyana, Patriko Mujjuka, Eddie Yawe and Moses Kasibante are among the popular figures that have been denied NUP flags ahead of 2021 polls.
