The ministry of health has today reported 167 new COVID-19 cases from tests on yesterday on Tuesday, September 22. The total cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases in Uganda are now 6,879.
The breakdown of the 167 new cases are; Contacts and alerts (155): Kampala (62), Kiryandongo (40), Soroti (7), Agago (5), Bundibugyo (5), Mbale (6), Gulu (4), Isingiro (3), Bududa (2), Jinja (2), Lamwo (4), Masindi (2), Buikwe (1), Kaberamaido (1), Koboko (1), Kole (4), Luwero (1), Mukono (2), Nwoya (1), Wakiso (1) and Terego (1). Twelve are returnees, 11 from India and 1 from South Sudan.
The health ministry also confirmed five (5) new COVID-19 deaths from; Kapchorwa (2), Kampala (1), Mbale (1) and Gulu (1). The total COVID-19 deaths are now 69.
More Ugandans are also winning battle against the deadly coronavirus as the total cumulative recoveries now stands at 2,961 5.
The ministry yesterday revealed that the surging number of infections has become a burden as all hospitals at both national and regional level have run out of space to accommodate more COVID-19 patients. According to the ministry, they have only one gazetted COVID-19 treatment center which is Namboole Stadium and it’s also out of space.
