The provisional list of aspirants vying for Mayoral and LC Councillor Positions with in Kampala and Wakiso that was over the weekend released by the National Unity Platform (NUP) party Elections Management Committee is being challenged by the members.

Singer Jose Chameleone and about 200 other party aspirants have decided to petition the NUP vetting committee expressing their dissatisfaction with the results from the vetting.

The petitioners claim they’re unaware of the criteria the committee used to deny them the party flag.

Joel Ssenyonyi, the NUP spokesperson says all the petitions will be fairly looked at and a fair judgement will be delivered.

Meanwhile the party has also denied using the assessment form that made rounds on social media yesterday. The form indicated that amongst the issues that made Chameleone lose the flag was that he’s a catholic.

“Our attention has been drawn to a fake, misleading form, purportedly used to do ground assessment for our candidates. Please treat it with the contempt it deserves. it is fake & misleading. Here are the forms used by our EMC to do ground assessment as well as vet candidates,” says NUP in a statement.
