Singer Jose Chameleone has vowed to stand for Kampala Lord Mayor even when the party he subscribes to which is the National Unity Platform (NUP) denies him it’s ticket.

During a FaceBook live video yesterday, Chameleone said he’s part of the group that represents the young generation. He said the party leadership should abide by what they preach of pushing for change by voting out the old generation.

“If Bobi Wine truthfully believes in his generation, then I am the right candidate to be handed the NUP ticket,” Chameleone said.

Chameleone said all the other aspirants have been in the elective positions for at least 10 years and for this he also deserves a chance to serve.

The past few weeks have seen Chameleone very active in preparations for the Lord Mayor race. The singer launched his office on Balintuma road, Mengo in Kampala district last week and days later he also announced his campaigning team.

Reports in the media have been revealing that the big wigs in NUP secretly decided that Hon Latif Ssebagala will carry their flag in the forthcoming Kampala Lord Mayor race.

However, the party has continuously refuted the reports and insisted that their aspirants will be determined through vetting. Earlier this week, Chameleone and Ssebaggala were vetted at the party headquarters in Kamwokya and we eagerly wait for the outcomes.
