NRM PRIMARIES: Minister Namuganza’s agent killed, elections called off

Incidents of chaos and tension are continuing to be reported as Uganda’s mass party NRM are in polls to decide their next representatives in the 11th parliament.

Fresh development coming in indicates that Dr. Tanga Odoi, the Chairman Electoral Commission NRM has cancelled the party primaries in Bukono County Constituency  in Namutumba District after an agent of Minister Persis Namuganza was been killed.

“I have suspended elections in Bukono constituency because Hon. Persis Namuganza’s agent was killed this morning. We have sent police to arrest anyone connected to that killing,” said Tanga Odoi.

Earlier today, Odoi suspended the Mawogola North elections involving Minister Sam Kuteesa’s daughter Shartsi Kutesa and President Yoweri Museveni’s Sodo Kaguta over violence and chaos.

Last night Niwamanya Haruna, a supporter of Sodo was burnt by unknown people and is currently nursing wounds at Beacof Medical Centre in Sembabule Town.

Also today morning the Iganga NRM district Chairperson Hajji Abubaker Wulubi confirmed that elections in Kigulu South have been cancelled following the death of one of the candidates, Stephen Waako who got incident in an accident.

However, he noted that elections for Iganga district women flag bearer will move on as planned.
