Uganda’s war against COVID-19 has hit a set back as the country is recently registering record-high daily confirmed cases. The ministry of health yesterday confirmed 64 new cases taking total cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans to 2,426.
The ministry also reported three (3) new COVID-19 deaths bring the total COVID-19 deaths in Uganda to 25. As the country waits for the presidential address this week, State Minister for health Robinah Nabbanja has said that the Uganda needs to go back on the drawing board and restructure the COVID-19 battle plan.
“At the beginning, we were all on the same page in terms of the COVID-19 measures but I don’t know what went wrong,” Nabbanja said.
Nabbanja however thinks that mood for elections have destabilized the fight against the deadly Coronavirus.
“It’s in this elections period that we have seen multiple flouting of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The country needs to go back on how we started the battle and observe all health guidelines,” she said.
