Speculations have been making rounds of how government is set to reimpose lockdown due to the recent surge in the COVID-19 infections especially in the central business district, Kampala.
Speaking during an interview on a local radio station in her home district Lira, Health Minister Dr Ruth Aceng revealed that amongst the many plans government is hoping to introduce in the fight against the deadly coronavirus, lockdown is not yet anywhere near the plans.
Aceng said the population should focus on following the already set guidelines and directives.
“It appears to me that some people fear lockdown more than the disease itself. Let everyone follow the guidelines and protect themselves from the disease and there will be no need for another lockdown” Dr Aceng said.
Aceng said the public became complacent when the country was not registering any deaths but the so far 22 deaths registered so far must awaken vigilance.
