Boda boda riders complain women are refusing to give them their phone numbers

Following the recent nation address by President Museveni about COVID-19, where he continued to ease on the lockdown and this time round he allowed boda boda riders to resume carrying passengers starting today, Monday July 27.

Museveni announced tough terms for boda bodas and among the new terms, all operators will have to register details of their passengers.

Richard Jjuko, a rider at City Square stage said the first day back to ferrying passengers has been hectic as female passengers are hesitating to give out their phone numbers as mandated by the directives.

Jjuko said many women passengers he has tried to get  from contacts have backed him off sighting insecurity of the numbers.

“Most of the women have refused to give me their numbers saying we (riders) shall be disturbing them with calls ,” Jjuko said.

He urged government, President Museveni in specific to again look into the issue of registering passengers because it’s costing them clients.
