People Power Movement is turning out to be the darling home for opposition candidates vying to occupy elective offices in the upcoming election.

The pressure group announced the start of its nomination exercise two weeks ago and as of yesterday, 6200 aspirants eyeing various positions had already filled forms.

Due to such a huge turn up, the movement spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi who is also vying to take up the Nakawa Member of Parliament Seat said they have been forced to extend the nomination exercise.

“Many from especially upcountry places have had transport challenges, plus internet challenges in regard to the online forms. In light of that, we’ve extended the process of filling forms by two weeks,” Ssenyonyi said.

He said as a youthful movement, they are humbled to see that many want to vie for positions under People Power.

“We believe it might not be an easy process but it will be successful. We have been getting calls across the country from our people saying they are having challenges coming to Kampala due to COVID19. We are hoping the two weeks extension will help,” he said.
