Health workers at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital are threatening to lay down their tools over unpaid COVID-19 allowances. The medics say they have gone three weeks without receiving their allowances.
According to the hospital director James Elima, the hospital has paid out risk allowance for two weeks and has told medics to hold on for communication from the Ministry of Health concerning any further payments.
The hospital so far has 54 community cases from Elegu, Gulu, Amuru and Lamwo who are undergoing treatment. It has also discharged 22 people of have fully recovered from the virus.
To date, Uganda has 1,029 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as the ministry of health confirmed 4 new cases. Two are truck drivers and the others are alerts from Amuru and Isingiro districts.
Uganda has registered a total of 977 Covid-19 recoveries and no Covid-19 related death has been recorded.
