Police yesterday revealed a few details from the assault scene of Tegu Emmanuel, a 24 year old Makerere University student as captured by the CCTV cameras at St Augustine Church, Makerere.
Police said the footage indicated that Tegu was hit with metallic chairs by private security guards attached to SGA who were on duty at Centenary Bank, Makerere University branch.
In a bid to curtail the rising cases of indiscipline and crime amongst private security guards, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola has ordered for immediate retraining of private security guards.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said the retraining will be guided by a new curriculum designed by police for private security companies.
In the murder of Tegu, police has already arrested and charged four key suspects before court. These include; Oigu Charles; a 34 year old Area Councilor; Nyeko Balam, a 33 year old security guard; Kakuru Johnson, a 24 year old resident of Makerere and Sekitoleko Moses, a 21 year old resident of Makerere. Police says their task team is actively investigating the murder.
