Uganda’s COVID-19 cases have risen to 770 as the Ministry of Health has confirmed seven new COVID-19 cases.
Amongst the new cases; two are truck drivers from Points of Entry: One from Elegu and one from Malaba while five are among contacts and alerts: three from Kyotera, two from Amuru. Uganda’s total recoveries stand at 492 with no single death. The number of active cases has reduced to only 192 by press time.
Health Ministry officials led by Minister Dr Ruth Aceng and Dr Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary will provide an accountability briefing today Sunday, June 21, 2020 of COVID-19 funds and donations. The show will be broadcast on UBC starting 3 pm.
Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in Uganda in March, the budget of the Ministry of Health was enhanced with Shs104.188 billion to enable prepare health facilities and quarantine centers in the fight against the pandemic.
On Wednesday this week, government presented Shs1.09 trillion supplementary budget for the Financial Year 2019/2020 before Parliament. The funds will be used to intensify the fight against coronavirus once approved.
