When Uganda announced a partial lockdown that involved the closure of schools and learning institutions due to COVID-19 pandemic, it called for a shift away from the classroom if academics was to continue.
Though there was already high growth and adoption of technology in education especially in Europe and America even before COVID-19, in Africa the growth still slow.
However, in Uganda Victoria University dons have been spot on that the post-COVID-19 era will cause changes in teaching methods that include using more online platforms than physical classroom work.
While different institutions are finding it hard to mobilize infrastructure to extend long-distance teaching via the web, Victoria University is set to lead the way.
Victoria University is resuming lectures for its students via distance education. The University management will on Monday, June 22, 2020, officially launch online schooling. The event will take place at Victoria University Campus along Kampala Road at 11 am.
