Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has asked his deputy Sarah Kanyike to reject President Museveni’s nomination as Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Director Gender, Community Services and Production.
Lukwago said he received the news of Kanyike’s appointment with shock as he constantly checked on various social media platforms to confirm the news.
“I had failed to sleep but my wife insisted I sleep. She saw me seated most of the night. I constantly checked social media but all streams confirmed the first news,” Lukwago said.
He added, “I want to tell you it hurt me seeing my deputy enlisted.”
Lukwago asked Kanyike to reject Museveni’s nomination for the position because her current position (Deputy Lord Mayor) is superior to the new appointment and she should keep it.
Kanyike is also a member of the Democratic Party (DP) and a councillor representing Makindye East to the KCCA Council. Lukwago appointed her as his deputy in June 2016.
Kanyike was nominated in the new shakeup at KCCA by President Museveni. Others who were nominated are Dorothy Kisaka for Executive Director, Daniel Okello for Director Public Health and Environment, Grace Akullo for Director Human Resource and Eng. David Luyimbazi Ssali as Deputy Executive Director.
