With public transport set to resume on Thursday June 4, after two months under lockdown, Kampala Taxi Operators Association has come up with new hiked fares.
The adjusted fares come after President Museveni confirmed that taxis will return on the road but will only be allowed to carry seven passengers as opposed to the usual 14. The directive intends to help users maintain social distance even while using public means.
The taxi operators say the high pricing is due to half capacity carriage policy issued by Government as they cannot allow operating under losses. The association says the fares apply to Kampala Metropolitan and surrounding areas.
