With border points currently posturing a huge threat to Uganda’s fight against COVID-19 pandemic, Ministry of Health led by Minister Jane Ruth Aceng has today flagged off an assessment team to conduct COVID-19 mass testing in border communities.
The assessment survey intends to estimate the prevalence of COVID-19 among communities in Uganda. During this survey, the teams will take a blood sample, nose and throat swab from individuals and test for COVID-19.
The survey will target a representative population of Uganda including: Market vendors, Truck drivers and communities along their routes, Border crossing points and their communities, Health workers, and Religious leaders.
The results will be provided on May 4 2020 as the Health Ministry will inform the public about subsequent decisions.
“We appeal to the communities to cooperate with the teams and provide information. It’s for our own good,” Aceng said.
Uganda has 79 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and total recoveries currently stand at 47.
