Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Don Wanyama is in full praise of his boss President Yoweri Museveni for leading the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Wanyama said the President has demonstrated his great leadership skills. He revealed that Museveni is someone keen on what is happening around and always looks for information.

“No one wants this kind of situation, even the President announces the lockdown knowing it is the last resort. I am glad people are finding ways of surviving,” Wanyama said.

Wanyama said if Museveni hadn’t taken the brave directives, Uganda would be now destined for disaster.

“In hindsight, people now see that the President was right to stop public gatherings and big crowds. The country must be proud of him because he has offered pure leadership. He communicates deliberately and consistently,” he said.

On what government is planning to do to lift-up the economy after COVID-19, Wanyama said, “The world has survived recessions before. We know how to fix broken economies but we do not know how to return dead bodies to life. I am confident that as we move into this other phase of the lockdown, we shall have a conversation about the economy.”
