While appearing on NTV On The Spot show last night, Health Minister Dr Ruth Aceng revealed that the current situation has to be handled with a lot of care and vigilance.
Aceng said the COVID-19 pandemic is nothing to joke about as it has badly swept countries considered to be superpowers.
“What is happening in various parts of the world is something we don’t want to happen in Uganda. Stay at home and adhere to the rules,” Aceng said.
The minister disclosed that what makes coronavirus tricky is that once anyone tests positive in quarantine all his/her contacts have to be held again for 14 days.
“When anyone tests positive in quarantine, we start again for 14 days. People did not understand the seriousness of quarantine. It is extremely risky to release people without considering the science,” she said.
She added, “We must be disciplined and adhere to the rules of social distancing, in that way you will help the health workers to weed out the cases of COVID-19.”
Aceng revealed that three of the 53 confirmed patients of COVID-19 have tested negative twice.
“There will be some discharges. We will announce soon. Our first case is very stable,” she said.
