As the country seems all united in battle against COVID-19 pandemic, People’s Government President Dr Kizza Besigye has revealed that his team has made available over 10 emergency vehicles.
“From today, Monday, March 30, the People’s Government will provide emergency services (to hospitals) for people in need within Kampala Metropolitan area. Briefing, training, and equipping drivers has been successfully concluded,” said Besigye in a tweet.
Besigye said in this crisis, we must work together, support each other, and share food with neighbours. Nevertheless, he noted that the first thing every Ugandan should do is to kneel down and pray.
“This is a matter that is beyond our competences, we need God to reign in on this hopeless situation, we really need that super natural power,” Besigye said.
He called upon his fellow professional medical personnel to ignore the money factor and work tirelessly.
“If I am also called to come back and work as a professional doctor, yes I will,” he said.
On the government directives, Besigye said though it is necessary to encourage the population to stay home and avoid to spread of coronavirus, he said that government should draw plans to assist the vulnerable groups that survive on daily odd jobs or the poorly paid workers.
