With the currented coronavirus pandemic, people are advised to stay home and most work is going on online. It is by no surprise that President Yoweri Museveni announced the change in Uganda Revenue Authority Leadership via his Twitter page.
Museveni announced John Musinguzi as the replacement of Doris Akol who has been URA Commissioner General for over five years.
“His Ecellency has just appointed Mr John Musinguzi as the new Commisioner General with immediate effect. Let’s welcome Mr. Musinguzi to the URA family and render him utmost support,” Akol sent mail to URA staff moments after President Museveni’s tweet.
“It has been an absolute honour and privilege to be your team leader for five years and five months. Thank you for loving me, for supporting me and for being loyal to me. May God bless you all. The struggle to liberate our country continues,” she wrote.
Akol joined URA in 1995 as a legal officer and rose through the ranks. Betwen 2012 and 2014, Akol was the commissioner Legal Affairs and Board Matters. She also served as the tax body’s legal secretary. She was appointed Commisioner General in October 2014 until she was replaced this March 29.
