In the wake of a coronavirus case confirmed in Uganda, several people have decided to join the Ministry of Health to sensitize the general public about the pandemic, how to avoid getting infected, and how to not spread it to others.
Among these is Leone Island Music Empire boss Jose Chameleone. The Baliwa hit-maker took it upon himself yesterday and bought hand sanitizers for people. In a video shared on his social media pages, Chameleone is seen hand-sanitizing people on the streets.
“Today I took the trouble to buy sanitizers and shared them with my people. I gave sanitizers and all friends I met will teach the other about the sanitization and safety, we need to battle this together. Let us reach out to our people against this pandemic,” Jose Chameleone shared on his social media pages.
The musician also used the same chance to humbly ask the President to waive taxes on disinfectants so that they can be affordable for all.
“Please Mr President, it is all humbleness can you please waive tax off sanitizers, cleaning supplies and soap to enable every one of us be able to afford it? Many have taken advantage of this battle we hope to win together and prices have gone high,” Chameleone said.
Chameleone’s case is true. Due to the high demand of hand sanitizers, retailers have increased their prices to more than double, making them expensive for many people.
