Former Minister without portfolio, Al-hajji Abdul Nadduli has termed fellow bush war veteran Gen. Henry Tumukunde unqualified to take up the country’s top office.
Nadduli said Tumukunde is politically immature to win a presidential race against incumbent President Yoweri Museveni. He claimed that even while serving in the various positions (Security Minister and representative of UPDF in Parliament), Tumukunde did not show any sign that he can be a good leader.
Besides, Nadduli believes Tumukunde and his entire family have enjoyed enough of Uganda’s privileges and should let other people also take up the mantle.
“Tumukunde and his entire family have accumulated enough wealth, let him not bother Ugandans by standing for presidency,” Nadduli said.
Different political players also weighed in on Gen. Henry Tumukunde’s ambition to contest for the presidency. Hon Ssemujju Nganda, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) spokesperson said the bush war general is not a joker due to his calculative tendencies. Nevertheless, Ssemujju said he doubts the legitimacy of his ambition to join the race.
For Joel Ssenyonyi, the People Power spokesperson, he said Tumukunde is part of Museveni’s bigger project tricks of destabilising the opposition.
Earlier this week, Tumukunde officially declared his ambition to join the 2021 presidential race as he informed the Electoral Commission about his planned countrywide consultations.
