Today, February 17, 2020, the Minister of Education and Sports who also doubles as the First Lady Janet Museveni has released the results of the 2019 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examination results at the Office of the Prime Minister in Kampala.
Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Executive Secretary Dan Odongo read out the statistics of the results which include girls performing better than boys, absenteeism rate dropping from 1.4% to 1% in five years, but the most important is the fact that students have recorded the highest pass level ever, at 98.6%.
That means that more candidates are expected to join university and tertiary institutions of higher education.
At the release of the results, UNEB said that 126 students’ results from 26 centres have been withheld for suspected cases of examination malpractice, but Odongo said that they will all be given a fair hearing to explain themselves.
UNEB Chairperson Prof Mary Okwakol voiced the board’s concern on the low number of candidates that registered for sciences (10%) and mathematics (30%), yet those subjects are crucial for industrialisation.
Matooke Republic congratulates all the students that have excelled in these exams.
