Just a few months after Uganda successfully hosted the 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) in which over 800 delegates from 53 member states of the Commonwealth participated, Uganda has been chosen to play hosts to yet another Commonwealth conference.
The Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference (CSPOC) will be hosted in the beautiful Pearl of Africa in 2024. This development has arisen from the ongoing CSPOC in Ottawa, Canada in which Speaker Rebecca Kadaga is an attendee.
Guernsey, Australia, Trinidad and Tobago will host the next three conferences before Uganda can hold hers in 2024.
The CSPOC was founded in Ottawa, Canada on September 12, 1969, for the purposes of maintaining, fostering and encouraging impartiality and fairness of the part of Speakers and Presiding Officers of Parliaments; promoting knowledge and understanding of Parliamentary democracy in its various forms; as well as developing Parliamentary institutions.
