Bobi Wine’s bodyguard reportedly knocked dead by a military truck

A number of journalists on National Unity Platform presidential candidate’s campaign trail were today injured. Among those injured was Next media’s journalist Daniel Lutaaya who is currently admitted at Masaka Hospital and Ghetto media’s Ashraf Kasirye who was reportedly shot in the head.

According to the National Unity platform Facebook page, in the process of rushing Kasirye to hospital, Bobi Wine’s personal bodyguard Ssenteza Frank was knocked dead.

” What a sad day , Ssenteza Frank, a personal bodyguard to Hon.Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert has been deliberately knocked dead by a military truck No.H4DF 2424 in Buddha as we drove from Masaka to Kampala to get further treatment for Kasirye a journalist working with Ghetto Media,” stated NUP page.

While addressing the press, Bobi Wine confirmed the death of Ssenteza and also said that doctors are doing their best to save Kasirye.

“Doctors are doing their best to save Ashraf Kasirye. Frank was knocked ,his neck and jack’s broken. They want to see us broken. You all know we are law abiding citizens. Our friends are being killed to make us lose hope,” said Bobi

He also asked his supporters to be strong and not lose hope.

Police released a statement about the incident and said that their task team in Greater Masaka had violent confrontations with the NUP candidate and his supporters at a check point in Kyabakuza after they defied the route plan agreed upon to Kyotera District.

“Tear gas was used to quell the violence and journalists were regrettably caught up during the process of dispersing the violent group. Notably among them was a Ghetto TV crew member identified as Ashraf Kasirye, who sustained blunt force injuries above the left eye allegedly from a canister. The victim was rushed to Masaka Referral Hospital for medical attention. He remains stable but in serious critical condition and on transfer to Kampala for better management,” stated the statement

Police has called upon anyone with digital evidence regarding the disturbing incident to share it with their task team of investigators from CID headquarters.
