Uganda’s mass political party, the National Resistance Movement has announced that security organs have cleared their request to deploy at least 150,000 presidential vote protectors (PVPs) and coordinators at the various polling stations to safe guard their presidential candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s votes on polling day.

Presidential elections are slated for January 14 and according to the Electoral Commission’s roadmap voting will be conducted at 34,000 polling stations across the country.

Candidates are mandated to deploy agents at polling stations to safe guard their candidates’ result by ensuring that the declaration forms to ensure that what was tallied at the centre corresponded well with what was on the declaration forms.

NRM says that on Wednesday the teams selected to safe guard their votes were introduced to the security organs and explained their roles In the Electoral Process. These include campaigners, regional coordinators, and village vote protection leaders.
