FDC sacks Ingrid Turinawe and two others for contesting as Independent candidates

Uganda’s strongest opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has finally acted on its members that participated in the party primaries but failed to concede defeat and decided to go against the party constitution.

The party has taken a disciplinary action of expelling its National Political Mobilizer Ingrid Turinawe and two others for contesting as Independent candidates which is against the party constitution.

Ingrid Turinawe who also serves as the chairperson of the women’s league had contested for the Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament Seat during FDC’s primaries and lost to youthful Dr. Warren Nuwagaba which she protested and declared to stand as independent against the party flag bearer which is against FDC’s constitution. Nuwagaba garnered 130 votes against Turinawe’s 65 votes.

In the letter signed by FDC’s secretary general Nathan Nandala Mafabi, Ingrid Turinawe, Winnie Babibuga and Darius Tweyambe are no longer members of the FDC party.
