“You are taking drugs and you say you want to be a leader?” Museveni says young people seeking leadership should lead by example

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni has said that young people seeking leadership should lead by example to win the trust of those they seek to serve.

Museveni said leadership calls for youths that are spiritually and morally upright and productive.

“These days we only talk about youth for age and years. It is very dangerous. For a youth to be useful to himself and country, he or she must be biologically, spiritually, morally, educationally and even technically upright.

“You are taking drugs and you say you want to be a youth leader,” Museveni said while campaigning in the Bugishu sub region.

Museveni said there is no opposition in Uganda that can defeat NRM because they have no logic.

“What are they opposing? There is no ground for opposition in any part of Uganda. They are discredited. They have no track record of what they have done on national issues,” he said.

Captain Mike Mukula.

Captain Mike Mukula, the NRM Vice Chairperson Eastern Region applauded Museveni’s leadership saying he has been a solution to the mistakes made by the previous governments.

“He (Museveni) is not just any other common leader, but a revolutionary leader,” Mukula said.

Before starting his campaigns in the region, Museveni earlier on commissioned a 50MW mobile power station serving Sino-Mbale Industrial Park. The Park is said to be currently employing 800 People but when it reaches full capacity it will employ 15,000 people directly.
