Ofwono OPondo: No law says a Presidential candidate should be treated differently when they break the law

Following the arrest of National Unity Platforms (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine by police for violating  the Electoral Commission guidelines on Covid-19 that led to the free Bobi Wine protests in Kampala and other parts of the country

Unhappy Ugandans claimed that Bobi Wine was not treated well by Uganda Police yet he is innocent and promised to protest until he is released.

Many NRM top officials have condemned the manner in which Ugandans erupted into protests including the Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre, Ofwono Opondo, who has said that presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi has to be treated the same way other law breakers are treated.

While appearing on a NBS last night Opondo, said that Bobi Wine flouted the Ministry of health and electoral commission guidelines on the deadly Covid-19.

According to Opondo, he believes that Bobi Wine should also be treated like other law breakers without favor.

“No law says when you are an MP or Presidential candidate, they should treat you differently when you break the law,” Ofwono Opondo said.

Opondo also asked the opposition Member of parliaments and Presidential candidates to stop disobeying the Ministry of Health and Electoral commission guidelines if they don’t want to see what happened to Kyagulanyi happening to them.
