Senior officers who commanded teargas operation at Mbogo clan ceremony transferred

Police has transferred two of its senior officers that commanded security personnel to use teargas to disperse officials that had attended Mboga clan ceremony at their ancestral site at Mugulu – Ziggoti Town Council, Mityana district.

Sources say the transfer is a directive from President Museveni as the incident caused uproar from the public, Buganda Kingdom and Catholic Church.

Bob Kagarura, the commander for Wamala regional police has been transferred to Bukedi North while the Mityana Divisional Police Commander Alex Mwine, has been transferred to Hoima.

Earlier this week, a delegation of senior police officers led by Police Political Commissar AIGP Asan Kasingye visited Buganda Premier Charles Mayiga and apologised for the incident.
Additionally, the same delegation to Masaka to apologize to Rtd Bishop Emeritus John Baptist Kagwa who was leading mass when the incident happened.
