Age limit promoter Simeo Nsubuga to contest as independent after losing in NRM primaries

Incumbent Kassanda South legislator and 2017 presidential age limit proponent, Simeo Nsubuga says he will run as an independent after failing to defend his seat as flag bearer in the NRM party primaries.

On Friday, Kassanda District NRM registrar Susan Namuddu declared Michael Muhumuza as the winner of the hotly contested election. Muhumuza gathered 11,173  votes against Simeo Nsubuga’s 11,011 votes.

Nsubuga has contested the results claiming the results were manipulated as the Kasanda District EC allowed the opposition to participate.

“I feel, and I am sure my victory was robbed. I followed the exercise everywhere and it was not free and fair. Many people were involved in the malpractices and so I cannot accept the results,” Simeo said.

“Many of the people now jubilating are from the Opposition. I will, therefore, stand as an independent,” he added.
