Health Ministry confirms 16 new COVID-19 cases taking total number of cases to 1,313

The ministry of health has today confirmed 16 new COVID-19 cases taking Uganda’s cumulative total of confirmed cases to 1,313.

Among the 16 new confirmed cases, 12 are alerts (eight are from Namisindwa, three are from Tororo, and one from Kampala Metropolitan area), two are contacts of the previous confirmed cases, one truck driver from South Sudan who arrived via Elegu border entry point and one returnee from Kenya who was under quarantine at the time of testing.

11 Kenyan truck drivers that tested positive at the entry point were not permitted entry as mandated by the authorities.

To date, Uganda has registered 1138 cumulative total recoveries with only nine deaths.
