Health Ministry confirms 31 new cases, majority are alerts from Kampala and Wakiso

The Ministry of Health has today confirmed 31 new cases of COVID-19 taking the cumulative total confirmed cases in Uganda to 1,254. Amongst the new cases, 19 are alerts; four from Kampala, four from Wakiso, one from Sironko, one from Bushenyi, two from Kisoro, four from Amuru and three from Adjumani.

The other cases, eight are contacts of the already confirmed cases while four are truck drivers.

The ministry also confirmed one death bringing the total COVID-19 deaths to six. The deceased is a 70-year-old male from Natete, Kampala.

“On July 24, he presented at Lubaga Hospital with signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Further investigations indicated he was diabetic, a risk factor for COVID-19,” the ministry said in a statement.

He was transferred to Mulago Referral and immediately admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) until yesterday when he passed on.

To-date, Uganda has a total of 1,113 cumulative recoveries.
